We have completed the gasification of Bielsk Podlaski, worth over PLN 21 million
Polska Spółka Gazownictwa has completed the gasification of the city and poviat of Bielsk Podlaski, worth over PLN 21 million. After over two years of intensive construction works, the residents of this area can now use the gas network.
The project "Gasification of the city of Bielsk Podlaski" was implemented by Polska Spółka Gazownictwa with the participation of EU funds under the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020. At the end of 2020, the investment acceptance procedures were completed, which enabled the submission of the final payment application in January 2021 in relation to the subsidy granted. PSG allocated over PLN 21 million for this investment, of which over PLN 5.7 million came from EU subsidies. Without EU funds, it would not be possible to complete the project.
The project resulted in over 25 km of gas pipelines and two gas stations. During the first stage of works, a 15.87 km high medium pressure gas pipeline was built between Wyszki and Bielsk Podlaski, and two gas stations: in Wyszki with a capacity of 10,000 m³/h and in Bielsk Podlaski with a capacity of 5,000 m³/h. Then, a distribution network was built in Bielsk Podlaski, with a length of over 9.3 km.
The implementation of the investment brings environmental, economic and socio-economic benefits. First of all, it enables the residents of the city of Bielsk Podlaski and the Bielsko poviat to heat their houses with natural gas, but also improves the condition of the natural environment by significantly reducing the use of low-emission fuels, increases energy security and creates better conditions for doing business in this region. The implementation of the strategic investment also includes the development of gas infrastructure using the so-called smart grid functionality. The completed investment is in line with the directions and goals of the state's energy policy.
The completion of this project illustrates the consistent and tangible investment activities of Polska Spółka Gazownictwa in the development of areas that have been waiting for gasification for decades. PSG is implementing a very extensive gasification plan of the so-called white spots, i.e. areas throughout the country where gas has not reached yet.
