Environmental protection

Polska Spółka Gazownictwa continuously monitors the main aspects of the direct and indirect environmental impact of its operations. Based on monitoring and taking into account the changing external regulations, we plan and take measures to reduce the identified scale of our environmental impact.
In response to the environmental issues identified, we have adopted long-term environmental targets within the Company, which are scheduled to be implemented between 2025 and 2030, with a view to 2050. These targets include:
  • Decarbonisation of the Company’s operations,
  • Reducing the consumption of natural and finite resources,
  • Protecting and enhancing biodiversity,
  • Monitoring the quantities of hazardous and non-hazardous waste generated,
  • Phasing out products containing asbestos,
  • Reducing the adverse environmental impact of historical land contamination.
Based on these objectives, the PSG Environmental Policy has been drawn up and implemented. It is a key document that sets out the direction of the Company’s activities in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development. This document is an integral part of our operations and forms the basis for the continuous improvement of our environmental management system.

As part of our pro-ecological activities, we focus on the implementation of tasks related to the company’s current and previous activities:
  • We are remediating the areas where traditional gas plants used to operate.
  • We conduct multifaceted training of employees in environmental protection and engage employees in actions in this area, by organising competitions in the field of health and safety and environmental protection. We systematically expand our employees’ knowledge under the ‘PSG in harmony with nature’ programme, e.g. we develop and provide our staff with pro-ecological materials.
  • We manage waste, energy, and natural resources in a thoughtful way.
We understand CSR as a responsible approach to the development of the company and its employees, increasing the availability of our services, being open to the needs of our clients, implementing initiatives for local communities, limiting the negative impact of our activities on the environment, and popularising pro-environmental attitudes.

Ecology and environmental protection are our daily habits. Ecology is your and my home, apartment, our office, workshop and workplace. It is a free choice of means of transportation and ways of spending one’s free time. And that is the kind of environmental protection we’re most interested in.
