Security of gas supply not endangered
Like every year, Polska Spółka Gazownictwa is sending letters to customers on plans to limit gas consumption. This is a routine action resulting from the law and does not mean that gas supplies will be stopped.
At the end of December, gas customers connected to the distribution network of Polska Spółka Gazownictwa (PSG) may have received a letter informing them that they had been qualified for the gas consumption restriction plan. We wish to emphasize that such letters are sent every year and only inform the customers who may be subject to possible restrictions in the event of insufficient gas volumes that they have been qualified for the plan. Currently, there are no grounds for introducing such restrictions.
The sending of the letters fulfils the obligations arising from the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of February 17, 2021 on the method and mode of introducing restrictions on the consumption of natural gas [Journal Laws of 2021, item 549]. Therefore, it is a routine activity performed by all operators of gas distribution systems after the annual approval of the restriction plan by the Energy Regulatory Office.
We would like to remind you that a significant change in the regulations took place in February 2021, when further power levels were introduced (11th and 12th power levels), as a result of which it is necessary to include a larger number of customers in the plan. The purpose of these measures is to ensure gas supplies to protected customers, in particular households, in the event of a crisis situation.
For details and the legal basis of the Plan for Introducing Restrictions in Natural Gas Consumption, see https://www.psgaz.pl/en/restriction-plan. The decision, if any, to introduce restrictions is made by the Council of Ministers, at the request of the minister responsible for energy.
