PSG: The role of gas as a transitional fuel will continue to grow

On January 13-15, a symposium "Gas Industry in the Age of Change" organized by IGG was held in Zakopane. The event was attended by Robert Więckowski, president of Polska Spółka Gazownictwa, and Ireneusz Krupa, member of the management board for development and investment at PSG.
During the event, representatives of Polska Spółka Gazownictwa delivered a report on the role of this largest natural gas distributor in our country's energy transformation. President Robert Więckowski participated in the panel on low- and zero-emission economy from the perspective of the gas industry.

"Nowadays, independence and energy security have one thing in common: zero- and low-emission energy. However, it is impossible to be energy secure and energy independent while relying on coal, or only using energy generated purely by RES. Therefore, the role of gas as a transitional fuel, supplementing RES capacity, will continue to grow. In connection with the EU requirements for air quality, we have been seeing an increased interest from heating plants in connecting to our networks for several years. This is because natural gas is their only way to achieve climate neutrality," said the president of the board of PSG.

The largest number of heating plants and other professional entities interested in joining the PSG distribution network is located in central and southern Poland (the Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Łódzkie, Mazowieckie, Śląskie and Wielkopolskie provinces). In total, it is nearly 900 customers who are ready to consume over 6.5 billion m3 of gas per year.
