PSG has the most advanced gas laboratory in Poland

Polska Spółka Gazownictwa has opened Poland's most advanced gas quality testing laboratory in Kraków. The event was attended, among others, by Robert Perkowski, Mining Board member of Orlen S.A., and Ireneusz Krupa, Member of the Board for Development and Investment.
The state-of-the-art laboratory, in addition to its core activities resulting from the PCA accreditation it was granted, has expanded its research capabilities to include the evaluation of the quality of gaseous fuel doped with hydrogen and biomethane.

“The opening of this laboratory shows that we are thinking about the future and are, in a sense, ahead of those needs that will arise in a few years, which will result from the energy transition. Today, Polska Spółka Gazownictwa mainly supplies customers with natural gas, but we are aware that the biomethane and hydrogen mixtures to be distributed in the future must also meet the relevant requirements”, said Robert Perkowski, Mining Board member of Orlen S.A.

“As Polska Spółka Gazownictwa, we are convinced that we will green the gas by adding biomethane and, in the future, hydrogen. Among other things, this laboratory will allow us to examine the chemical parameters of the gas that will go directly to our customers”, added Ireneusz Krupa, Member of the Board for Development and Investment of PSG.

The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. Among other things, specialised laboratory chromatographs with a mass spectrometer have been purchased, which will allow analyses to be performed with the highest accuracy.
