The eGazomierz project: half a million devices already replaced

Polska Spółka Gazownictwa has reached a ‘milestone’ in one of the largest technological transition projects in gas distribution in Poland – it has reported over 500,000 gas meters replacements for consumers in tariff group 3.

This means that more than half of the ambitious target set out in the agreement with the Ministry of State Assets has been achieved.
The eGazomierz project is a strategic initiative by Polska Spółka Gazownictwa, aimed at replacing traditional devices with modern, smart gas meters. As part of the project, over 1.38 million gas meters are to be replaced for customers using natural gas in households.

The new devices are equipped with technology which enables remote reading of gas consumption. This makes it possible to:
  • reduce the need for meter readers visits,
  • streamline customer service processes,
  • enhance customer comfort and safety,
  • speed up and automate the exchange of meter readings.
The project is co-financed by the National Recovery Plan, which supports digitalisation and implementation of innovative technologies in the energy sector.

The replacement of gas meters is a part of a broader strategy to modernise the distribution infrastructure and build the foundations for a smart gas network in Poland.
