Security of gas supply not endangered
Polska Spółka Gazownictwa sp. z o.o. would like to inform that the scheme for introducing restrictions on gas consumption is a standard procedure.
Referring to conflicting reports appearing in public discussion concerning the scheme for introducing restrictions on the consumption of natural gas, we would like to inform you that by issuing the communication regarding the qualification for the restriction scheme, Polska Spółka Gazownictwa sp. z o.o. fulfills its information obligation under the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of February 17, 2021 on the method and mode of introduction of restrictions on natural gas consumption [Journal of Laws of 2021, item 549].
This information is preventive and is not tantamount to introducing restrictions on the consumption of natural gas. It merely informs about the appropriate qualification of the customers who, in the event of an emergency, may be subject to possible restrictions on the various stages of supply.
The transmission of letters indicating the approval of the restriction scheme is a routine activity carried out by Gas Distribution System Operators each year after the approval of the restriction scheme by the Energy Regulatory Office and does not result from the current situation on the gas market.
In 2021, there was a major regulatory change, introducing new supply levels (11 and 12), which resulted in the obligation to include more customers in the scheme. The aim of these actions is to ensure the supply of gas to protected customers, in particular, households.

Any decision to impose restrictions is taken by the Council of Ministers on a motion of the minister responsible for energy matters. Only if such a decision is taken, GAZ-SYSTEM, as the Gas Transmission Operator, will publish a communication on its website https://en.gaz-system.pl/ stating the level of supply currently in force. This communication will also be broadcast by radio in Polskie Radio Program I.
