PSG: We will develop the Absorption Map

The 8th Biomethane Congress, one of the most important events in the industry calendar dedicated to the development of the biomethane market in Poland, began in Poznań on 20 May. Speakers included representatives of Polska Spółka Gazownictwa, who analysed the key challenges and opportunities facing the renewable gas market alongside other experts.

The opening panel of the Congress was entitled ‘Pulse of the market: regulations, support system, investments’. It was attended by Szymon Paweł Moś, a member of the board of Polska Spółka Gazownictwa. The discussion focused on current and planned legal regulations supporting the development of biomethane, the financial support instruments currently available, and potential investment opportunities in this area. The panellists emphasised that the further development of the biomethane market requires appropriate regulations and transparent support mechanisms, in terms of both investment and operations.

As Szymon Paweł Moś pointed out, Polska Spółka Gazownictwa is responding actively to market needs by launching a number of initiatives to support the development of biomethane. This area is of key importance to the company today, particularly in the context of the Orlen Group strategy.

'Cooperation between all entities — transmission, distribution and the legislative area — is extremely important. We are ready and willing to talk to all market participants and are waiting for systemic solutions in the area of generators,' said the Polska Spółka Gazownictwa board member.

During his speech, Szymon Paweł Moś emphasised the significant role of biomethane in the energy transition process and in enhancing the country's energy security. He also highlighted specific actions taken by Polska Spółka Gazownictwa, including the development of the Absorption Map, which supports biomethane producers in making investment decisions.

'We have published the Absorption Map, which allows investors to check where the network's absorption capacity is highest and compare this with their investment intentions. I know that many people are interested in the map — we register around 100 hits per day, which is an excellent result. We are already in dialogue with investors, as evidenced by the feedback and suggestions we receive for further developing the tool. We will implement the changes expected by entrepreneurs. We want to develop the Absorption Map and improve it where possible immediately. Where we need more time, we will plan the next stages of expansion,' he concluded.
