PSG panel at the 28th Gazterm Conference

The development of infrastructure for renewable gases in Poland and Europe (status and prospects) was the topic of a panel that was held under the patronage of the Polska Spółka Gazownictwa and which opened the second day of the 28th Gazterm Conference.

Participants in the PSG panel discussed the status and prospects of biomethane production plans, and evaluated the level of development of this industry in Poland and other European countries. Additionally, they attempted to determine a realistic timeframe for introducing biomethane into Poland's gas grid.

The potential for biomethane production in Poland is estimated to be between 3 and 8 billion cubic metres (bcm). Even achieving the lower end of this range would enable PSG to cover 10–20 per cent of the total volume of gas fuels it distributes annually, while reducing Poland's dependence on imported gas fuels. To accelerate this process, PSG has launched an Absorption Map on its website.

"The Absorption Map, which was published at the end of March, enables entrepreneurs to swiftly analyse locations that are suitable for biomethane investments. It is a transparent, publicly accessible, interactive tool showing the absorption ranges of the medium-pressure network and providing an overview of the gas network. It demonstrates that our leadership extends not only to the gas distribution sector, but also to the development of the biomethane market," said Remigiusz Adamiak.
