PSG joins the Masovian Hydrogen Valley

Polska Spółka Gazownictwa will be part of the cluster that forms the Masovian Hydrogen Valley. The collaboration under the project, whose leader is PKN ORLEN, will cover the production, storage and use of zero- and low-emission hydrogen in transport, energy, municipal and agricultural sectors.
In recent months, there has been intensive work on defining the framework for the operation of the Masovian Hydrogen Valley. Some specific projects that will be implemented have already been outlined. These include projects related to the manufacture of synthetic hydrocarbons using low- and zero-emission hydrogen, as well as the establishment of the Academy of Hydrogen and Modern Technologies, whose first edition will start in 2022.

"We are implementing the objectives of the ORLEN Group Hydrogen Strategy published in February this year. The collaboration of 37 actors from the area of business, science and finance is a great opportunity for a rapid development of local hydrogen assets. Low- and zero-emission hydrogen technologies are of particular importance for PKN ORLEN, as well as for the entire Polish economy. Not only do they help achieve the goal of carbon neutrality, but also enable a gradual reduction in the consumption of fossil fuels. As part of the Masovian Hydrogen Valley, we expect an intensive development of smart specializations, including educating young people and students who will become the backbone of Polish innovative hydrogen technologies in the near future," says Daniel Obajtek, President of the Management Board of PKN ORLEN.

The Masovian Hydrogen Valley was established on cluster principles, so as to enable as free choice of forms of cooperation between its members. Work on its creation started on October 20, 2021 and began with the signing of a letter of intent.

"The Masovian Hydrogen Valley is a response to the challenges of the transformation of the Polish energy sector. The mission of Polska Spółka Gazownictwa is to be a modern enterprise using the latest technologies. That is why we are already working very hard at introducing hydrogen to our gas networks. I am positive that the cooperation within the Masovian Hydrogen Valley will allow us to exchange experience and deliver new solutions even faster," added Robert Więckowski, President of the Management Board of Polska Spółka Gazownictwa.
