PSG invests in biomethane – the zero-emission fuel of the future

June 5th marked the start of the 11th edition of the National Energy Summit, OSE GDAŃSK. The panel, titled "Electricity, fuels and gas market,” was attended by Robert Więckowski, CEO of Polska Spółka Gazownictwa.
The discussion during the session focused, among other things, on the future of gas as an important resource for the Polish energy sector, as well as on the priorities and existing constraints in the expansion of the gas distribution network.

– In 2050, Polska Spółka Gazownictwa will be one of the more stable energy distributors in Poland. And that's because today we want to gradually replace the natural gas flowing through our networks with the greenest of all fossil fuels, zero-emission biomethane. For this to happen, we need to bring about legal changes making it profitable for investors to build biomethane plants and then connect them to the distribution network of Polska Spółka Gazownictwa. It is also worth noting that Polish residents have not turned their backs on gas and continue to see great potential in connecting to our network. In the first five months of this year alone, we issued more than 53,000 connection conditions. Many small heating and power plants also see their future in gas power. All because this will relieve them of emission fees and produce cheaper energy and heat. That's why I can confidently say that green gas has a future, and we will go to great lengths to have as much of it as possible in our network – said Robert Więckowski, CEO of Polska Spółka Gazownictwa.
