PSG Board Member on the role of gas in the energy transition during OSE 2026

One of the main topics was the digitalisation of the distribution system and the scale of the changes taking place at PSG.

“We have achieved the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (KPO) target for the replacement of gas meters – we already have over a million remotely read meters, and this year we plan to reach a level of around 1.4–1.5 million. “This is a genuine qualitative change – customers no longer need to submit meter readings, and we have access to real-time data, which allows us to forecast gas consumption much more accurately and manage the system more effectively,” said Wojciech Kowalski.

The interview also highlighted the rapid rise in interest in connections, particularly from the heating and energy sectors.

“We are seeing a clear increase in interest in connections from the heating and energy sectors. Over the last five years, we have started working with over 200 organisations. In 2026 alone, we have already signed 16 further contracts. This demonstrates the growing role of gas in the energy transition,” he emphasised.

PSG continues to develop its infrastructure and cooperate with key market players.

"Last week, we signed a connection agreement with Tauron Ciepło for the largest combined heat and power plant in Katowice, with a capacity of 27,000 m³/h. This is another agreement with Tauron Ciepło this year – the previous one, concluded in April, covered the connection of the heating plant in Tychy with a capacity of 9,500 m³/h. In 2024, we connected the heating plant in Bielsko-Biała, and in 2025, the one in Cieszyn,” said Wojciech Kowalski.

PSG’s participation in the event also provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and engage in dialogue with energy market participants.
