PSG at the Baltic Business Forum 2026
On 11–12 May 2026, the 18th edition of the Baltic Business Forum took place in Świnoujście – one of the most important events dedicated to energy security and economic cooperation in the Baltic Sea region.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the Management Board of Polska Spółka Gazownictwa, Dr Szymon Paweł Moś, who took part in a debate entitled ‘The Baltic Sea – the gateway to energy security for Central and Eastern Europe and Ukraine’.
The discussion focused on the region’s role in building a stable energy system, the importance of diversifying energy sources, and the directions for infrastructure development in the context of the changing geopolitical situation.
Another key theme was the role of gaseous fuels – including biomethane – in the energy transition and in strengthening security of supply.
– Biomethane can play a fundamental role as a local, indigenous fuel source – from a distributor’s perspective, it is, within our network, the same gas as traditional fuel; the only difference is its origin. Our infrastructure is ready to accommodate biomethane – we connected the first biomethane plant to the network last year in Strzelin. As part of the ORLEN Group, we can see very clearly that the development of low-carbon gaseous fuels and increasing their share in the energy mix is a shared strategic direction – and for PSG, this means consistently preparing the network to integrate these sources. Every cubic metre of biomethane injected into the system effectively strengthens energy security. This makes proposals to exclude biomethane from the EU taxonomy whilst retaining only hydrogen all the more worrying, as such an approach may hinder the utilisation of the potential that is already available. Despite the barriers, we can see that the market has started to move, and we are convinced that this is just the beginning of the road to good results, said the CEO.
The Baltic Business Forum provided an opportunity for representatives of public administration, energy companies and financial institutions to exchange experiences, as well as to discuss the challenges associated with the region’s energy transition.
