‘The transition to a low-carbon economy is not a one-off action, but a long-term process requiring planning, investment and commitment from the entire organisation.’ However, as Szymon Paweł Moś of Polska Spółka Gazownictwa pointed out in the discussion, this process can bring tangible benefits, such as lower operating costs, increased competitiveness, adaptation to regulatory changes and a better corporate image.
‘We do everything we can to keep gas prices as low as possible. We ensure that the costs of the energy transition do not burden consumers in the distribution tariff, and that they are fair. We are in constant dialogue with the market and the administration at all levels. We focus on adapting PSG's operations so that the services we provide in the gas market meet end consumers' needs. Gas infrastructure creates an opportunity for both customers and us to use it effectively. The gas network supports a low-carbon economy by replacing solid fuels with gaseous fuels in heat sources and reducing CO₂ and particulate emissions,‘ he stressed.
‘Pomerania is already playing a key role in the transformation of the Polish energy sector, and its potential is constantly growing. The gas grid here acts as a stabiliser for 'uncontrollable' or 'unstable' renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power. The region has great potential for producing biomethane — the necessary feedstock is readily available, and our network is ready and able to receive it,‘ added the PSG board member.
