Piątkowa – Biegonice gas pipeline with EU funding

Polska Spółka Gazownictwa has obtained funding of PLN 32,345,617.64 from the FEnIKS programme for the implementation of the project ‘Construction of a high-pressure gas pipeline in Nowy Sącz between Piątkowa and Biegonice’. The contract on this matter was concluded by Polska Spółka Gazownictwa and the Oil and Gas Institute – National Research Institute, which is the implementing body for measure FENX.02.03 ‘Energy Infrastructure’ under the FEnIKS Programme for 2021–2027.

As part of the project, a 10.7 km long DN 200 high-pressure gas pipeline will be constructed in Nowy Sącz, connecting Piątkowa and Biegonice, together with the associated infrastructure. The project will be carried out in the Małopolskie Province, within the boundaries of the city of Nowy Sącz and the Nowy Sącz County – covering the municipalities of Chełmiec and Stary Sącz. The estimated total cost of the project is PLN 52,228,705.66 gross. The gas pipeline is planned to be put into use in the first half of 2028.

The new gas pipeline will complement the recently constructed Nowy Sącz – Chełmiec medium-pressure gas pipeline, thereby forming a southern gas bypass of the city. This will significantly improve the security and reliability of gas supplies. Increasing the capacity will allow new consumers to connect and, thereby, facilitate the elimination of further coal-fired sources. In turn, the increased capacity of the network will enable the development of the local biomethane market.
