More gas for Nowy Sącz

Polska Spółka Gazownictwa has obtained a construction permit for the high-pressure gas pipeline located in Nowy Sącz, Piątkowa-Biegonice. This investment will significantly improve the capacity of the existing gas network and will make it possible to supply higher volumes of gas for residents and entrepreneurs from the city of Nowy Sącz and the neighbouring municipalities: Chełmiec, Stary Sącz, and Nawojowa. The planned gas pipeline will increase the safety of supplies and improve network absorption capacity.

The new high-pressure gas pipeline, which will measure almost 11 km, together with its two first-degree reduction and measurement stations, complements the recently constructed Nowy Sącz – Chełmiec medium-pressure gas pipeline, thus creating the southern gas ring road of the city. The estimated capital expenditures with this implementation amount to PLN 52 million gross.

“The new gas pipeline will improve the safety and reliability of supplies for individual residents, but also for developing industrial plants, new housing investments in the area, as well as for the  Miejskie Przedsiębiorstwo Energetyki Cieplnej,” emphasises Wojciech Kowalski, member of the Management Board of Polska Spółka Gazownictwa. “A larger share of gas in the local energy mix will also translate into a better air quality in the region,” added the member of the PSG Management Board.

The completion of the investment is planned for 2028. The project is executed pursuant to the Act of 24 April 2009 on investments related to the liquefied natural gas regasification terminal in Świnoujście.  Polska Spółka Gazownictwa seeks co-financing for the project from EU funds under the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment programme – the amount requested is PLN 32 million.
