Important PSG projects with EU funds are being finalised in Silesia

In the Silesian Voivodeship, Polska Spółka Gazownictwa is implementing two gas projects with the assistance of EU funds, and with the aim of optimising the distribution system of the gas network and adapting it to the current needs of the region. On Tuesday, June 6th, a meeting was held to provide information on the progress of the projects. It was also stressed that this year's construction deadlines are not at risk.
The first of the projects in question is being implemented in the Kłobuck County, where there’s no regional gas network for now, and covers the cities of Krzepice and Kłobuck, as well as the municipalities of Opatów and Wręczyca Wielka. Polska Spółka Gazownictwa received a subsidy for its implementation in the amount of PLN 38 million, with total expenditures of PLN 57 million. The project includes the construction of nearly 100 kilometres of gas pipeline, which will be able to supply both residents and business customers with gas fuel. The progress of construction work is at more than 90 percent. More than 60 kilometres of the pipeline have already been commissioned, while work is underway on the remaining 33 kilometres, which are expected to be completed in October this year.

The second project concerns the reconstruction of the high-pressure gas pipeline between Dąbrowa Górnicza and Szopienice. The difficulty of implementing this task is due to the fact that it is carried out in a narrow strip within the cities of Będzin and Sosnowiec with extensive underground infrastructure. That is why state-of-the-art drilling technologies – microtunneling and HDD Direct – are being employed during the reconstruction. Four sections of gas pipeline with a total length of 6.5 kilometres are being reconstructed as part of the project. The value of the project is about PLN 56 million, and the value of the subsidy was PLN 6 million. As of today, the progress of the construction work is at over 50 percent, and the work should be completed by the end of this year.

In addition to the management of OZG Zabrze, the Development Department and the Polska Spółka Gazownictwa Investment Department, the project review meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy, the Ministry of Climate and Environment, and the Oil and Gas Institute.

Both projects are subsidised by the EU's European Regional Development Fund under the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020.
