Discussion on the role of gas in the energy transition during the symposium in Zakopane

“We are observing a significant increase in interest in connecting biomethane plants,” declared Szymon Paweł Moś, President of the Management Board of Polska Spółka Gazownictwa, during the Gas Industry Chamber of Commerce symposium ‘Gas in Transition – New Horizons’, which took place on 9-11 January in Zakopane. Representatives of government administration, the gas industry and scientific community took part in the discussion on the role of gas fuel in the context of changing EU policy towards this resource and the development of renewable energy sources.

“We have strengthened our dialogue with the producers’ market significantly and in our day-to-day work we are observing a huge increase in interest in connecting biomethane plants. This is a process which takes time, but the scale of contacts with advisors, the use of our absorption map and the rapid increase in the number of applications clearly show that the market is gaining real momentum,” emphasised the PSG President.

In the discussion, the issue of new distribution tariff approved by the Chairman of the Energy Regulatory Office was also raised. The reduction of the PSG tariff was possible thanks to a series of measures taken within the organisation, including the increase of cost efficiency, the implementation of investments aimed at maximising distribution volumes, as well as the active acquisition of public funding for the investments. Reduction of the tariff, given the increased transmission costs payable to the transmission operator, is an unquestionable success of Polska Spółka Gazownictwa, a member of the ORLEN Group.
