Change in the type of gas in Lubin and the surrounding area

Polska Spółka Gazownictwa is preparing to change the type of natural gas supplied to Lubin and the surrounding towns. The current nitrogen-enriched gas (Lw) will be replaced by high-methane gas (E).
The process will cover Lubin and the following villages: Brunów, Bukowna, Chróstnik, Gola, Gorzyca, Juszowice, Karczowiska, Koźlice, Krzeczyn Wielki, Krzeczyn Mały, Lisiec, Miroszowice, Mleczno, Obora, Osiek, Raszowa, Raszowa Mała, Raszówka, Rynarcice, Szklary Dolne, Szklary Górne, Toszowice, Wiercień and Zimna Woda. 

This change is a response to the growing demand for gas in the region and the limited availability of nitrogen-enriched gas. 

The introduction of high-methane gas brings several significant benefits for customers:
  • modernisation and optimisation of gas-burning appliances, 
  • more stable fuel parameters (E-gas), 
  • better availability of the fuel and greater security of supply in the future.
An inventory of gas appliances is currently being carried out. All preparatory work for households, housing associations and housing co-operatives is free of charge. For other customers, the billing rules are set out in the Energy Law.

The inventory will begin in May and will run until August this year. The actual switch to the new type of gas and the adaptation of appliances are planned for 2027.
